Speech Pathology Myths

Established in 2013, AV Speech Pathology consists of 3 highly skilled Speech Pathologists who have chosen to specialise in paediatrics, simply because changing the way children communicate is so rewarding.

Before AV Speech Pathology came to existence, our director, Alex had been working as a Speech Pathologist for 6 years at Autism Queensland and then a complex speech disorders clinic, where his love for private practice evolved. Working in private practice, Alex thrived off helping kids to communicate his way without having to adhere to rigid corporate structures.

After some time, Alex realised he could run his own practice; taking a much-needed holistic approach to the industry and so, AV Speech Pathology was born. We treat children ages 2-18, helping them with everything including simple and complex speech disorders, language disorders, developing social skills, late talkers and working with Autistic children.

When it comes to treating children, building a strong rapport is just as important as the treatment itself. With some of our team having experience working as Speech Pathologists in the corporate sector, we realised that approaches to treatment lacked warmth and cordiality, making speech therapy appointments something children were scared to attend.

Taking note of this, AV Speech Pathology go above and beyond to make our practices as “non-clinical” as possible. Our practice is filled with bright colours, fun drawings and entertaining toys to help your child feel at ease. In addition to the cosmetics, our Speech Pathologists, before any treatments, really take the time to get to know you and your child. Doing this means we can tailor our treatments specifically to your child’s interests as well as their life experiences and milestones.

Because helping your child is such a personal experience, we keep it that way in our approach.

Ipswich Speech Pathology

Our Clinics.

AV Speech Pathology has two specialised clinics. One in Toowong, Brisbane and more recently; Ripley, Ipswich. After the success of our Toowong clinic, we opened a second clinic in Ripley to meet the needs of our clients travelling from Ipswich, but also to meet the demand for Speech Therapy appointments in Brisbane. We offer our entire service list at both clinics; however, our Ipswich speech pathology clinic offers an additional service of group therapy to help Autistic children develop group-oriented social skills.
